Hopefully we will have a better method for posting on the forums in the near future. Until then here is a step-by-step simple method that will hopefully help anyone that has difficulty posting here.

Step 1: Your picture

The best picture size for posting in messages is around 600-700 by 450-550 pixels. Larger pictures will work, but make the messages harder to read. Smaller pictures work too depending on how much detail you are trying to show.

There are a lot of programs out that will adjust the size of an image for you. Many printers, cameras, and scanners even come bundled with free software that will make the adjustments for you.

If you are taking the pictures to be posted with a digital camera, you should be able to select an appropriate size in the camera so that the picture will not need to be resized for posting.

Step 2: Getting the picture uploaded

There are numerous sites that will host pictures for free. You can do a search on Yahoo or Google for Free Picture Hosting and get a list. But since we can currently still use the upload section of the old Starduster forum, I'll use that for the remainder of this guide.

Click on the link: http://starduster.aircraftspruce.com/psupload.html

From there you can either type in the path to the picture file that you intend to upload, or you can press the Browse... button to browse for the file.

When the filename is in the textbox, you select Upload! to upload the file to the Starduster upload site.

After the upload is complete, a page will appear with the link to use when posting in the forums. Be sure to copy this link before closing the page.

Step 3: Posting it in a message

To get it to appear in your message is now very simple. At the place in your message where you want the picture to appear:

1. you simply type "[img]" (without the quotes)
2. then put the link to the image
3. then type "[/img]" (without the quotes)

An example would look like:
Code:
[img]http://starduster.aircraftspruce.com/wwwboard/uploads/camsig.jpg[/img]

Which produces the picture:

To make sure that the image appears the way that you want it, use the Preview button for your message. If the picture does not appear in your message, make sure that there are no spaces in the line that contains the image link. Also make sure that "Disable BBCode in this post" is NOT selected. This option is just below the text box for editing your message. After checking these two things, try the Preview button again.

I hope this helps everyone. Let me know if you have questions.

Cam,
As I recall we have access to the former BB's posted pics but have forgotten how to. Is it possible for you to refresh us?

Cam,
That index only goes back to 2005/2006 (our new BB?).

I am looking for the period December 2002 - January 2003. Are they still available? This is important re the bent bellcrank postings at that time for 363J

Frank,

Your pictures are there. The dates of the files are not the dates that they were posted, they are probably the dates that they were copied from the old BB. One of the files that I think you are looking for is:
http://starduster.aircraftspruce.com/wwwboard/uploads/duster_bellcrank21.jpg

And a link to the original message thread is:
http://starduster.aircraftspruce.com/wwwboard/messages/backup/6209.html

The problem with the messages from the old BB is that they still point at the old file locations. So if you bring up an old BB message with an old BB picture, it says that the picture does not exist. If you copy the link to the old picture and change the portion that says "www.starduster.com" to "starduster.aircraftspruce.com", you should see your picture. An example would be that your original bellcrank message points to:
http://www.starduster.com/wwwboard/uploads/duster_bellcrank21.jpg

and you can change it to:
http://starduster.aircraftspruce.com/wwwboard/uploads/duster_bellcrank21.jpg

to see your picture.

Also note that the pictures starting with lower case letters appear after all of the ones starting with upper case letters. So 'a' is after 'Z'.

Cam,
Yes, that is exactly the pic of interest. Your additional comments also very helpful. Question - the FAA still has 363J logbooks and our copy of the plans. Does anybody have SA-750 plans and could they scan and post the portion which details the aileron linkages and especially the plans directions for aileron bellcrank mechanical stops at the spar in the lower wings? This is important as there were stops present in the wings of 363J but close inspection indicates they were grossly undersized, subject to crushing at the tiny points of contact and therefore rendered incompetent for their designed role.

Can we find an easier way to upload and use photos on this site? Sme members are starting to use photobucket as a means to post their photos because it simplifies the process, but my concern is that if photobucket goes out of business (as many picture hosting sites have done), has technical problems, or changes its web address, do all of the photobucket pictures in the forum disappear? At least with uploading the pics to the forum site, we know they are there to stay. Too bad we can't find an easier way to upload and post resident photos.
