I found this question in the experimental section and am re-posting it here. I also referred Wanderer to the Starduster portion of the forums for his answer. Wanderer's question:

Wanderer The published control travel on the ailerons for the Starduster Too are 30 degrees up and 18 degrees down. It has differential ailerons. A quick and dirty way is to check it with a measuring tape at the inboard side of the aileron to the wing at the trailing edge and you have already found the dimensions as it is 6" up and 4" down approximately.

Also the upper travel is a bit different, in that the aileron mounting brackets are on the top of the bottom aileron and on the bottom of the top aileron thus giving the upper aileron a slightly different travel. This however does not effect the aileron control or effect it adversely. Dave

Thanks Dave. I placed a post in the other section (to generate an auto email notification) to let Wanderer know that you had answered his question.

Glad to have assisted (though Dave gave the answer). This forum is a good place to get information and advice. Another good source is the complete set of old Starduster Newsletters. You can find them hosted on the Biplane Forum here: http://www.biplaneforum.com/f31/old-starduster-newsletters-1071/
