Carb fuel overflow?

What do you guys do with the carb fuel overflow? I see a brass spout on the back left side of my MS carb...I think it is the overflow. I think my old cowl had a hole that let it dump out to the ground.

However, I think it needs to be plumbed back to the firewall at least right?
